Let us commence this article by categorically stating that 'God is supreme'. The supremacy of God refers to the person of God being superior in authority, power and status over every other person, thing or creature. In this regard, God's supremacy indicates His sovereignty.
Please read on the sovereignty of God here.
Recall that God delivered the Israelites from their bondage in Egypt. He showed his might and supremacy by performing some notable miracles, culminating into a devastating destruction of the entire army of Pharaoh, alongside their chariots and horsemen (Exodus 14). Eventually, God led his people into the promise land after forty years of wandering in the wilderness. However, He still cared for them by feeding them with quail and bread (manna).
Please read on Jesus as the living bread here.
After the Lord God brought the Israelites out of Egypt, He gave them His commandments (ten commandments). The first and second commandments (Exodus 20) reflects the supremacy of God. They are stated below:
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me.
You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
With regards to the academic nature of this article, the supremacy of God will be reflected in the stories of Elijah, Obadiah, king Ahab and the prophets of baal as contained in first kings chapters 16, 17, 18 and 19 respectively.
In the thirty-eight year of Asa, king of Judah; Ahab, the son of Omri became king of Israel and reigned in Samaria over Isreal for twenty-two years. In the eyes of the Lord, king Ahaz did more evil than any of his predecessors. In fact, sin became a trivial and usual thing for him. He took a step further in his evil by marrying Jezebel, daughter of Ethbaal, who worshipped baal, and consequently introduced the worship of baal in Samaria and Israel at large. A temple for the worship of baal was erected by Ahaz in Samaria, and this was a direct transgression of God's first and second commandments. Also, understand that Ahaz further provoked the Lord through other evils and scandals. Regardless, God established his supremacy in the kingdom of Ahaz (Israel) as we shall read below.
Please read on the biblical account of the first human disobedience here.
During Ahab's reign as king, Elijah the Tishbite (since he is from Tishbe in Gilead) was God's prophet. As a consequence for the many sins of king Ahaz, He prophesized a period of drought before him. It states thus:
As the Lord, the God of Israel whom I serve lives, there will be neither dew nor rain in the next few years except at my word.
First Kings 17:1
However, God instructed Elijah to head towards the Kerith Ravine, east of Jordan where he will drink from the brook. He had also ordered the ravens to feed Elijah here. Meanwhile, understand that the drought brought upon Ahaz's kingdom and this feeding of Elijah by the ravens is a function of God's supremacy.
You can read on the leadership qualities of Joseph that has transformed lives here.
After some period of time, the brook dried up due to lack of rain. God ordered Elijah to visit a poor widow at Zarephath of Sidon and stay there. Ironically, this widow who is expected to feed Elijah until the period of drought elapses had just a handful of flour in a jar and little oil in a jug. Her expectation was to make a meal out of these for herself and her son, eat the meal and afterwards await death. Interestingly, the woman ended up feeding Elijah, herself and her son to satisfaction throughout the entire period of drought. This miraculous feeding of the household at that point in time was a function of God's supremacy.
Meanwhile, during the stay of Elijah in the woman's home, her son fell ill and eventually died. Again, God in his supremacy over death restored her son back to life through Elijah's intervention. In testament to God's supremacy, the woman said to Elijah: 'Now I know that you are a man of God and the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth'.

The land where Ahaz ruled as king was not exempted from the drought which had now resulted into a great famine. Unlike Elijah who enjoyed food during the period, the kingdom of Ahaz suffered from a lack of some basic needs, especially food and water.
Interestingly, there also lived a man named Obadiah who walked in the way of God, and was in charge of the palace. Meanwhile, Jezebel, the wife of Ahaz worked tirelessly to solidify the worship of baal in Israel, as she also embarked on a killing spree of God's prophets. Regardless her violence, Obadiah in a stealth manner saved a hundred prophets by putting them in two caves of fifty persons each, while also supplying them with food and water. Through this action, the supremacy of God was again established as his prophets survived the drought and corresponding famine, while Jezebel, Ahaz and his household was greatly tormented by the drought. In fact, Jezebel vowed to kill Elijah out of her torment and frustration which peaked after Elijah ordered the killing of baal's prophets.

The parable of the prodigal son as narrated by Jesus himself is one that shows God's incomprehensible mercy and love. This parable is present in the gospel of Luke 15: 11-32.
Jesus began by saying:
There was once a man who had two sons. The younger one said to him, 'Father, give me my share of the property now'. So the man divided his properties between his two sons.
Luke 15: 11-12
From the above passage, it is quite clear that the younger brother had lost interest in the family's affairs. He must have pondered in his heart the sweetness of complete independence on a life of financial abundance.
To actualize his thoughts, he had the effrontery to go to his father to request for his inheritance even though his father is fully alive and active.

Wise men from the east came to visit the infant king. Upon their arrival, they saw the child with his mother Mary. They knelt down and worshiped the infant (Jesus).
Notice that the bible recorded that the wise men knelt down and worshipped the infant (Jesus), according to Matthew 2:11.
Only God can be worshiped. Jesus is always God, even as a baby.
It is important to state that Jesus remained God at every point in his physical existence, even when he was in the womb of the virgin; throughout his life on earth, death on the cross and eventual resurrection.
The wise men from the east opened their treasures and presented the infant Jesus with three significant gifts. These are gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Gold represents a symbol of Jesus' kingship. Jesus is the King of kings, even at birth and throughout eternity.
Frankincense represents a symbol of Jesus' divinity and a sign of worship. Only God can be worshipped; and as such, Jesus is fully God.
Myrrh represents a symbol of Jesus' death. Jesus is truly man, and this is why he was able to suffer and die on the cross.
God created human beings for the following reasons:
To know Him
To love Him
To serve Him
To be happy with Him forever
Our first parent, Adam and Eve enjoyed a life of complete happiness before they committed sin. They never knew what pain nor sorrow was until they disobeyed God. In short, both were perfect beings until they committed the sin of disobedience against God.
Disobedience may simple be defined as the failure to obey rules, command or someone in authority.
Adam and Eve were the first human beings to disobey God.
