Cooperation is a vital value that is necessary for an increased output or productivity from any group or society.
Individual, communities, states and the nation at large will find it difficult to develop if there is little or no cooperation among its people.
By definition, cooperation is the process of coming together, working together and helping one another to achieve a common goal.

In this article, we will look at the various factors that promote or encourage cooperation among individuals, groups and the society at large.
Below are some of these factors:
Every individual has a goal. Think of a goal as an achievement; and we must work towards such achievement.
Most times, we cannot make achievements alone; thus our cooperation with others is mandatory (important).
As an instance; a student who intends to become a medical doctor must be willing to cooperate with his teachers, lecturers, professors and other colleagues in school.
Similarly, a boy who intends to be a great footballer must cooperate with his trainers, coaches and other team mates.

Often times, people form groups in order to achieve a common goal. These groups could be non-governmental organizations (NGOs), pressure groups, academic groups and so on.
Unity and cooperation are the vital requirements if these groups are to effectively achieve their goals.
For instance, cooperation within the pressure groups can pressurize the government into making favorable policies towards their group.
Cooperation will not thrive when we fail to understand or accept the fact that all human beings have equal rights before the law.
Discrimination, tribalism, racial abuse and nepotism are the greatest acts of abuse and must be completely condemned and penalized because they are all false signs that human beings are not equal.

There is this saying that 'respect is reciprocal'.
It is quite difficult for a person who you don’t respect to genuinely cooperate with you.
Note: Regardless of age, we must respect one another.
As an instance, students are obliged to respect their teachers and the teachers must respect his or her students in return.
Through respect, crimes and vices will be reduced in the society while cooperation is fostered among the people.

Think of reliability as a state whereby you can confidently depend on others.

Understand that reliability is a positive value that will eventually increase one's reputation.

You can only cooperate with someone when you know and understand the common goal. Through this, you get to understand your role towards such goal and can effectively work with the team towards achieving it.
Division of labor is a form of cooperation and unity since each department work towards achieving a common goal, although through their specialized fields.
Our ability to reason with one another will determine our level of cooperation. We must always accept the fact that each person is entitled to his or her opinion, views or feelings.
Understanding brings about unity and unity results into cooperation. Cooperation will therefore get the job done through understanding among the people.

You may have read on the biblical story of a certain people who attempted to build a tower reaching up to the heavens through cooperation.
According to the story (above), the people spoke a common language and were really progressing in their mission until their languages became struck and they could no longer understand one another. This loss of understanding (through languages) was the singular act that prevented the people from achieving their goal.
Without unity, there can be no cooperation. Cooperation requires that the people must live in unity and harmony while working together as a team.
Note: A bunch of broom must first be united before they can be effectively used for sweeping.

A citizen has the following rights:
You have the entire right and privileges as defined in your country’s law.
No one can take away your citizenship.
You can hold a passport from your country of citizenship.
You can pass your citizenship to your children.
You don’t have to fulfill any minimum stay to become a citizen.
Provided you have the passport of your country of citizenship, you are free to travel to any country which your country has travel agreement with.
You can have dual citizenship.
A legal resident in a country has the following attributes within that country:
They must provide their bio-metric information.
They can enter their country of residence on many occasions. However, when they break any of the residents’ status, they may be denied further entry into the country of residence.
They are able to freely live, study, work and travel within their country of residence.
They will still utilize their international passport (from their country of citizenship) for travels, but not their resident card or permit.
They can become a resident after fulfilling their stay requirement. As an instance, one may become a resident when they had lived for 10 years in a country without any issues.
They can only naturalize (become a citizen) after faithfully living as a resident throughout the required number of years.
They can lose their residential status when convicted for serious crimes.
